FAQ’S
Can I use my existing x-ray equipment if I decide to go digital?
Yes you can in most cases. We simply are upgrading the way you process your images either with CR (Computerized Technology) or DR (Direct Technology). You can always contact us to discuss your particular scenario and to answer your specific questions.
What does “Retrofitting” mean?
This is when we pair a CR reader or DR Panel with your existing x-ray equipment, eliminating the use of film cassettes to acquire images. Instead, you will have a digital image without replacing your current x-ray equipment.
What is a PACS system?
A picture archiving and communication system (PACS) is a medical imaging technology that provides economical storage and convenient access to images from multiple modalities.
What is the difference between CR and DR?
Computed Radiography is a mechanical system, using analog technology to take x-ray exposures with CR cassettes in place of traditional film cassettes. The CR system (reader) can then scan the image into a digital format. In other words, it’s somewhat of an intermediary step between old school analog and the digital world. DR uses a 17×17 or 14×17 “panel” to acquire images almost instantly and displays them on a monitor making this the quickest way to acquire images.
How big does my x-ray room need to be?
Please see our link to a few room design examples on our x-ray room planning and design page. There are many ways to configure an x-ray room depending on specialty type, so please contact us for specific recommendations.

This only affects those seeking reimbursement from Medicare or Medicaid insurances, Veterinarians or cash accounts would not be affected. Effective Jan. 1, 2017, Medicare has reduced reimbursement for analog providers by 20%. Effective Jan. 1, 2018, CR reimbursement has been reduced by 7% and will continue to be reduced annually.
